JP- I like this topic and reflection. This particular sentence stood out to me: "Talking to actual human beings will." Yes, it definitely will. A great reminder.

Thanks Thalia, really appreciate your comments. Wish people would talk to each other more, we spend way too much time on our phones☹️

I’d vote for a no-phone international day, but I know everyone would ostracize me for it.

Oh the lost art of noticing! Thank you for writing about this. We are all collectively missing so much by staring into our shiny phones.

I love how you walked the reader through all the different interactions that could have been sparked if only….

I’m also an introvert but I am known to chat and talk with strangers (to my kids’ chagrin!). It’s bigger crowds and social settings that exhaust/overwhelm me. Striking up human to human conversation is a lost art. And it breaks my heart.

As a kid, I was outside ALL DAY. I was told don’t come home until the street lights are on. Then be home for dinner. All of us around the table. Together. With no screens.

Imagine that! 🤯

Imagine that , those were the days. most kids these days cant go 5 minutes without their phones, (to be fair so do most adults) and playing outside seems foreign to them.

Same here, my brother and I would also only go inside when it was to dark for us to see.

looking back it was so fun and a bit crazy at times. although we had an Alsatian that kept us very safe😁. we would only watch tv when dragon ball z came on, and when that finished we went back outside. I miss those days.

I also don't like big crowds, prefer a one on one, you have more of a chance to get to know someone for real. love talking to people like yourself on substack, gives us introverts a bit of time to respond lol in person I don't always know what to say🤣

Did you see what apple brought out the other day? that vision pro thing😲 not sure how people are going to communicate with each other in future, if something like that takes off.

Yes, I find the vision pro roll out maddening. Do we really need spatial computing attached to our face?! So we’re all experiencing every thing as an interactive app? It is heartbreaking (in my opinion).

There is so much wrong with this.

Take us back to the good ol’ days!

It is, and the price, wow. Cant believe people will spend that amount of money on something like that.

As you said, its heartbreaking😔

Guess we need to try our best to get everyone to spend more time outside?

We are giving companies like apple too much of our time and money.
